WHERE'S WENCESLAUS?

In the early 1990's, I was asked to write an arrangement of Good King Wenceslaus to be used for television promos for the Holiday season. As I composed the work, the ideas were quickly transcribed and imported into my score. In fact, the music seemed to write itself and before I new it, I had finished it the same day I started! However, there was one problem when I started to hum the tune back.....IT WAS THE WRONG SONG! I had actually composed "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". OY!! I couldn't believe my mistake, and had to figure a way out. I went back in the arrangement and cleverly placed "Wenceslaus" as though I was adding Waldo into an eye spy children's book. Needless to say, I was pleased with the result and the rest is history.
